Hi, to make a long story short:

  • I'm at the point where I need medication to fight the cause of my IBS-D
(Diet, stress reduction, OTC medications, herbs, supplements, probiotics either help mildly or exacerbate)

  • I'm apprehensive in trialling something like Rifaximin (antibiotic) as I'm confident that overuse of antibiotics are the root of my problems

  • I'd like to try Nystatin to rule out a yeast/candida/fungal problem - as far as I'm aware, Nystatin will not disturb bacteria and therefore shouldn't kill anything down there that might be helping me. Am I correct to think this?

I get mild relief when taking Oil of Oregano and Caprylic Acid. This together with my long history of antibiotic use, growing food intolerances, and ongoing mild acne makes me thing yeast/candida/fungus is a reasonable thing suspect - and that Nystatin should be a non-detrimental thing to try if I am wrong.

I took a course of nystatin. In my case it didn't help.

I don't know if it can have side effects. I think there are different opinions and no one is really sure.

I am taking allicin and have some olive leaf extract that I haven't tried yet.
