I found this product at www.drugstore.com and it sounds good for "C". I am thinking of trying it but would like some opinions, and I am wondering if anybody has ever tried it. It is called "Super Cleanse" and it is made by a company called "4 Health" You get 100 capsules for $13.99, which is pretty inexpensive. The ingredients are:Cascara Sagrada barkTriphala FruitFennel SeedGinger RootIrish MossSlippery Elm BarkCayenne FruitLactobacillus Acidophilus (dairy free)Barberry Bark rootShattered Cell Wall Chlorella leafMarshmallow rootRed Rasberry leafI know the cascara is a laxative, but I have read where cascara is suppose to help to restore normal bowel function. Anyway I found the instructions on how to take the product very interesting. It says to take one capsule at bedtime the first night and to increase by one capsule every night until you are having two "normal bowel movements" a day..not to exceed 6 capsules in one day. It says to stay on this amount until you start having watery stool, then start decreasing by one capsule every night until the stool is no longer watery. The idea is to keep decreasing the dosage until you can "go" on your own. This appeals to me, because there is no psyllium or other bloating type ingredients in it. Plus I have read where Triphala, ginger, and slippery elm bark is good for the digestive system. Plus it has the Lactobacillus Acidophilus. Opinions anybody????------------------"Remember To Stop and Smell the Roses"Rose (C-type)

I've tried triphala and it has made a world of difference to me. It makes me almost normal; I don't take the full dosage which they say is 3 capsules a day (I only take 1) and n o complaints. I don't know about the other ingredients, but then I try to take as few pills as possible -- that's what got me into this mess to begin with. Good luck, but I would watch the cascara -- I hear it can cause problems after continual use -- like weakening bowel muscles (or so my gastro told me).

Hi Rose,I have a product called Super Cleanse made by a different company but with very similar ingredients and instructions. It's the only thing that worked for me before Miralax and aloe capsules. I never really used it correctly though. I increased to the point where I could go once a day and kept using it until I developed a tolerance and it stopped working. So I didn't use it for a long time and tried it again. Then I would take 3 in the a.m. and 3 at night, which is the dose that would make me go, and I did that for one or two days until it worked and then stopped. That way I could use it a couple times a week. If you follow the directions, it's for an occasional cleanse, like a few times a year, not for consistent use. Let us know if you use it and how it works for you. It's probably good if you are really backed up and haven't had anything for a while.

Phyllisfin,Are you a C type? Do you take the Triphala every day for C? The reason I ask is I read somewhere that some doctor..I think his name is Weill recommended triphala for C. Also could I ask what brand you use. I am thinking of just trying the Triphala, before I go full steam ahead and order the Super Cleanse, especially since you say it has made a world of difference to you.Altphyl, I read where you had your procedure done. Hope everything is OK.------------------"Remember To Stop and Smell the Roses"Rose (C-type)

Hi Rose,Thanks for the good wishes. I just wanted to add that I also take Triphala separately, which is something that Dr. Weil recommends. It's hard to tell if it helps because I take so many things. I used to take one in the a.m. and one at night, but I increased that to two each time a while ago. I really don't think it's doing anything but I still take it. You could try it though. Obviously, everyone reacts differently to everything as evidenced by this board. Let me know if you try it and how it works. Dr. Weil says it works better the longer you take it.
Hi Altphyl,I went ahead and ordered the Super cleanse. I found it a couple of dollers cheaper at www.mothernature.com. and I already have an account there. I also read a testimonial from a woman who said it help her a lot. So I figured, what the heck, I'll give it try. As I said earlier it appeals to me because there is no psyllium or bloating producing ingredients in it. I'll will let you know how I do. When will you get the results from your procedure?------------------"Remember To Stop and Smell the Roses"Rose (C-type)

Rose,They told me to call Thursday for the results. It's a long wait. Even if the results are bad though, I don't know what if any kind of treatment would follow. I guess I'll worry about it if and when the time comes.I read an article today that said not to take senna and that cascara is better for occasional use. It also said for long-term use to use psyllium or flaxseeds with lots of water. It was in Natural Health magazine, the June issue. So it's something to think about in terms of the Perdiem with senna. Let us know how the Super Cleanse works.
