Over-the-counter has worked for me. I used Monistat 3. There are all sorts if you go to a drugstore. There is even a one-day over the counter treatment. Most come with an applicator with cream and some external cream to help with itching. Or you can go to your doctor and get a prescription for Diflucan, which you take once and it cures it. It's a pill. I prefer to not have to get the prescription since it takes forever to get in to see my doctor, even on an "urgent care" basis. The last kind I bought was a store-brand of Monistat-3 and it cost $8.In the future, try eating yogurt and maybe taking acidophilus to prevent new infections. I've been using these as preventative measures since I take a constant low-dose antibiotic for bladder infections, and it's worked for the most part.
