Hi tsleclair, I take Elavil, and before that I was taking noratypilyne(SP). The Elavil works ok for me. the Nora.was too strong. I talked to my new pcp and she said to be sure and wait at least 6 weeks before giving up on the anti-depressants. I take 4 fibercon a day for"c" and it works good but if I miss just one pill,it takes a day before I get back to normal. There are some other people on here who take zoloft. I know its hard but try to hang in there. Something else just came to me. What time of day do you take it?

Hi! I take Paxil, which made me very drowsy at first. So I just started taking it at night. I sleep better and I don't feel like a zombie all day. MOM is pretty iffy, and it tastes like s---. Makes me gag just thinking about it. So I don't take it unless I'm REALLY desperate. For some deep psychological reason Equalactin works better for me than Fibercon, which is really too bad, because Fibercon is cheaper and I have a very large supply of it. Just some ideas. If you take either of these, drink lots and lots of water. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice, I did start taking Zoloft at night, it helped a lot and I just take 25mg, I see my Dr. on Monday. I have been taking Metamucil, she said the Fibercon is too dry and can cause constipation, thought that was interesting, I am really trying to drink- count them 8 glasses of water daily. I will keep up with the anti-dep. it doesn't seem to help with the constipation, yet. Thanks for the replies!------------------slc
HI!I take 25mg of Elavil at night. I tried Paxil, but got really ill. Maybe the dose of Zoloft is really too much for you. Make your doctor listen to your concerns! As far as stool softeners go.... i take Colace once in a while. Its a stool softener in capsuel form not liquid. So all you have to do is swallow two capsuels, not tablespoons of that s**t!!! Colace should be aviailable at your local Wal-Mart, Target, any pharmacy, etc. You may have to ask for it though, don't be embarassed!!Good luck and let us know about the Zoloft!Jill

Hi, I'm new to this board. I've suffered from IBS for years and years, it's awful and it's good to read that other people have the same thing. I took zoloft for three years and it literally saved my life. I was never able to take more than 35mg - one half + 1/4 of a 50 mg tablet. That dosage was good for me. I took it in the morning because if I took it at night I couldnt sleep. I think everyone's system is different and you just have to learn to work with what is best for you. Good luck. Zoloft gave me just what I needed to get over the hump of a divorce and it also helped with my abdominal pain which is the main factor of my IBS. I'm not on it anymore because I didn't like how it made me have no feelings whatsoever. But it took at least one month to work, stay on it and give it a try. ------------------

Pattee: Still wondering how you are doing on the Luvox. What dose are you taking at bedtime? I tried Celexa recently but it really wound me up, couldn't sleep either. The Zoloft worked great but I had a rare side effect and had to stop it. Let me know about the Luvox. Thanks.

smthomas How are you?I am doing great for the most part on the luvox.I take 1 100 mgbefore bedtime.I make sure I eat some thing with too so I dont get nauseated.I am not I am not falling back into my obsessive/compulsive behavior.Well I worry sometimes I have just changed cleaning for this bb but naaahh I dont think so .I am going to get my prescription renewed next month and I am feeling brave enough to go back to work.I was absolutly terrified to go back to work when I got out of the hospital. My head doc said he couldnt believe the difference in me.I thank God for my family,my friends at home and the bb,Depakote and luvox, and my newest best friend CALTRATE.I am feeling like a contributing member of society.I am still having a rough day or 2 but it isnt devasting to me anymore as it once was.100 mg seems like alot.(kept asking the doc dont you think that is too much?)But I was in pretty bad shape that led up to my breakdown.Keep in touch Love Pattee
