I have been to the ER twice in one month with chest pains, the last on on Thursday just gone. I had a burning sensation radiating down my left arm which is like a serious symptom of a heart attack. Both times the ER docs said it was gastritis/acid reflux. All the ECG and blood tests testing my liver and gall bladder function and the xrays came back clear.

It was a very scary feeling. Still is as I still have the pains. (got a GP appt tomorrow to suss it out.) But to anyone have chest discomfort please go to the ER, it's good to rule it out.

I've been to the ER twice over the past two years with what sure felt to me like a heart attack. Each time, my heart checks out fine, they give me a GI cocktail, and I sheepishly realize it was either my GERD or my IBS. I've had so many tests over the past 23 years (when I was first diagnosed with IBS) and everything is "normal". It's amazing the excruciating pain one can have when there's nothing "wrong" with you! I do wonder, now that I am 48 and have suffered with GI issues and migraines for most of my adult life... maybe some of us are hypersensitive? We feel pain at the level of our organs (gut, brain)? Overactive central nervous systems?
