Hiya chuck,Seems to me like you have a haemaroid.(s) sorry about the spelling.When I have a particularly hard poop, I get a bit of blood on the paper.Mine tend to go away of their own accord but in some cases they don't and may have to be removed.Best to go and see your doc to check it aint anything else. but it probably aint.don't worry it makes you IBS worse.

Sounds like you have a hemmorhoid. Bright red blood usually means it is occuring near the opening, while dark or black blood indicates bleeding higher up in the intestinal tract.My sister in law had some internal hemmorhoids and when she would go, she would fill up the toilet with bright red blood.. it was that bad.So she went and had a colonoscopy done, and like I said , it was a hemmorhoid. You should mention it to your Dr. of course, but I suspect it isn't anything more serious than that.Keep us posted.Jeanne

what is a FISSURE please?I had a colonoscpy in Feb and Dr found nothing.I therefore assume if it was anything serious that we would have seen it then?Should I just buy some Hemmie cream then?how do i treat a FISSURE?

I had a hemmie and it was like a little tiny lump. It just disappeared on its own. Its totally gone now. I had no idea what it was!It did bleed but a tiny amount.

After you have had this checked out by a doc, please try taking Immunolin. It will prevent most of the hard stool from occuring, which makes it easier to expel, which makes it less likely to irritate hemmorhoids.It works for me!Immunolin is available on the net atswansonvitamins.comand in some health food stores.

yeah but dhove, i normally suffer with D. i dont really want to take something that will make my stools too soft. i normally live for the days without D !!!!

Vikki-Lou,I am a D type too and have had the same issues in the past. From what I can figure, your system gets used to passing small, soft stools. All of a sudden you put a log thru there. Everything stretches more than usual and if there are any hemmorhoids in the way they are the first things to bleed. I've got two small ones and every once in a while a large stool would make them bleed. It's kind of scary to look down and see blood in the toilet but the 'bad blood' would be from inside your system and would come out black and like tar. The bright red blood you see is 'not so bad blood' which is from something right there at the outside that is bleeding. Obviously, see your doctor if you have concerns. I just needed to know if I should try some hemmie cream.To be honest, ive trouble sitting here all day!!! ha ha! bum is still SO sore!!

Call your doctor. I had this about amonth ago and they had me come right in. She did an exam but didn't see anything so they sent me for a sigmoidoscopy. Again nothing except some irritation so it was probably just a hemmie or fissure that had healed by then. he fact that you had a colonscopy recently also means it's probably not a big deal, but at least check with the doc and let them make that call. I know it's pretty scary though to see all that blood.nancy

FWIW, I've found lots of vegetables, salad and fruit (whatever you can tolerate - for instance, I usually have to cook my fruit and vegetables) and tons of water very helpful. I am getting C (big, hard stools) from a few painkillers I take but am 'normally' IBS D so it's a bit of a new experience for me! I'm eating about 7 portions of fruit and/or veg and/or salad per day and masses of water. I expect the amound of fiber needed varies from person to person. Today I 'went' without any bleeding probs. Best of luck!

I had no idea what a hemmie was until i read it on here then looked in a mdeical book. I though, oh my god! I'm bleeding! It was a new experience.I would decribe myself as C/D But when it started i was D. I suppose i never really thought about it before. But now, there is a tiny hemmie, like i said before, I didn't really do anything to help it. Just was careful and it went on its own.
